Meet the planner

My name is Patricia but many people chop my name to Patty.

I was born in Barcelona in 1987. I am a curious bug with an adventurer spirit with a loud laugh. I like to be happy and make the people around me happy as well, both at work and in a personal environment.

Patricia Bragado, Founder

I grew up in a very small family with no siblings or cousins and only a handful of relatives around me. I believe it helped shape my independence, curiosity, and willingness to take chances.

I could list all my travels since the age of 13 but what’s more important than a list are the lessons and experiences that came with those travels. I have traveled with friends, with partners, my parents and on my own and I can say that I learned to stay calm when plans change and to adapt quickly when the unexpected happens.

Some of the trips that have shaped me;

  • A summer in London where I worked as a dishwasher. First sharing an apartment!
  • A whole month touring Europe by train with my college roommates. Traveling like dirtbags taught us a lot about logistics, problem-solving, and finding our way around.
  • A month as a volunteer art teacher working with disabled children in Nicaragua. An eye-opening experience!
  • An exchange year in the United States; nine months at the University of West Florida. First time in the USA! I felt like I was in a movie! I still can feel that memory.
  • After graduating from university there was a global crisis that made it difficult to find a decent job. I decided to use my little savings and go explore Asia with my best friend. We flew from Barcelona to St. Petersburg and started the train journey of the Trans Siberian; a train that crossed Russia, Mongolia and China (we did it in the winter!!). From there we flew to Nepal, then a bus to India. From India I flew solo to Vietnam. A total of 7 months backpacking, making it the most epic trip of my life so far.
  • In 2017, I moved to the US with my partner at that time who happened to be a New Yorker. Since then I’ve lived in 5 different states and visited more than 25.

Throughout those years, I got very involved in the travel community through Couchsurfing. I stayed at people’s houses while traveling and I hosted many people in my apartment when I was home. I showed them the city and gave them all kinds of tips to make their experience more local.

In NYC I worked as a tour guide showing the Big Apple to Spanish speaking tourists.
One day, I thought about swapping that service. What if, instead of showing where I was living to my fellow Spaniards, I could show Spain to my new American friends? What if I could help them experience Barcelona beyond the guidebooks and tourist crowds? That idea eventually grew into the curated travel business I now call Barcelonian Voyages.

That’s how
Barcelonian Voyages was born. I thought "I want people to experience Barcelona the way it deserves to be experienced." Living abroad taught me something unexpected: the farther I got from Barcelona, the more I appreciated what makes it special.

Barcelona will always be home, and sharing it with others is one of the greatest joys I know.
